The Kinder Choirs have gained a high profile in competitions, prestigious
concerts and in a series of appearances on BBC and Granada TV, including
Songs of Praise, Celebration of Christmas, Lent in the Park, My Favourite
Hymns, and on Radio's Friday Night is Music Night.
They won the Children's Choir Class at the Llangollen International
Eisteddfod in 1997 and have been in the finals and semi finals, on 5 occasions, of the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year and the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition. In 2006, two of the Kinder Children’s Choirs again reached the final stages of this prestigious competition; an achievement only duplicated by one other choral organisation. They have been awarded the accolade of Choir of the Day in the regional qualifying stages of the competition on a number of occasions.
The Choirs have shared the concert platform with the London Symphony
Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Chorus and
Orchestra of Opera North, together with international opera soloists.
The choirs have been invited to sing at national services in St Paul's, Lincoln, Liverpool and Coventry Cathedrals. On behalf of the European Parliament's celebration of the 50th anniversary of signing of the Treaty of Rome the choir presented a gala concert at Derby Cathedral in October 2007.
The Choirs also featured in a Gala Broadway Concert with the American
conductor Carl Davis and the Orchestra of Opera North. In November 2005 they were invited to perform at the Celebration concert to mark the 60th birthday of the English composer Professor Edward Gregson at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where their performance in Latin of Gregson's Missa Brevis Pacem was highly acclaimed. The Kinder Children’s Choir had the honour of singing to HRH the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at an International Opera Gala at Buxton Opera House.
In 2007, the Choir performed in a series Christmas concerts with Carl Davis,
the bass baritone Sir Willard White and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and at Nottingham and also for Raymond Gubbay organisation in the Glory of Christmas concert at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
The choirs have made a number of tours to Germany and in 2004 performed at the official celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy, France. They were the only non military voluntary organisation invited to participate. They were invited to return the following year, to give concerts commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of World War 11 and again in 2007 to perform a further series of concerts in Northern France. The Kinder Children’s Choirs have collaborated twice with the Imperial War Museum (London) to pilot educational and inter generational projects during their tours in France as a part of the prestigious national “Their Past, Your Future” programme.
